Each year, the Leominster Football Hall of Fame gives two awards to football team seniors. The Lou Little award, named for a Leominster football legend, goes to a young man who exhibits great play and sportsmanship as well as character on and off the field. The second award, named for Coach Ray Comerford, who tragically drowned helping saves a young boy caught in an ocean undertow (the boy was saved), is given to a young man who exhibits great caring for his community and team. He is likely not a starter but a great teammate, nonetheless. He’s a young man who should be recognized for his character and willingness to give of himself.
Last night, to the thunderous applause of their teammates, we had the honor of presenting the Little Award to Owen Parlin #2 and the Comerford Award to John Eckstein #58 at the Leominster Football Hall of Fame Banquet before announcing our regular inductions. Congratulations to these two great young men and their families.
